A feeding trial was carried out with 36 cross-bred growing pigs allocated to four treatments in which cashew nut oil meal (COM) replaced soybean meal at levels of 0, 33.3, 66.6 and 100% of the soybean meal, equivalent to percentages of 0, 12, 24 and 36 % of COM in the diets.

Daily weight gains were 0.76; 0.75,  0.79 and 0.77 kg/day with feed conversion ratios of 2.64, 2.59, 2.60 and 2.54 for increasing proportions of COM in the diet.  There was reduction of back fat thickness with increasing inclusion levels of COM in the diets.

It is concluded that COM can replace totally SBM in the diet of growing pigs.
