In the first experiment, different quantities of bamboo root (100,150, 200, 250 g) were cooked in 1 liter of boiling water for 2 hours until the volume was  reduced to 200 ml. The extract was allowed to cool and then given orally to the goat. The control treatment was an injection of Oxytosine (6 ml). Each treatment was applied to 3 goats that had retained the placenta.  In the second experiment, quantities of bamboo root (80, 100, 150 g ) were compared with the control of Oxytosine (4 ml),  each dose given to 3 goats  which had pushed out the placenta but the uterus  had retained dirty  fluid (dirty fluid is dark brown).

For goats that pushed out the placenta, the extract  with 150 g bamboo roots reduced the time to expel the dirty water from the uterus (from 60 to 28 hours, similar to the control with oxytosine). For goats with retained placenta, the extract from 200 g bamboo root reduced the time to eject the placenta to 32 h,  a shorter time than for oxytosine injection (52h). However, the higher dose of 250 g caused the death of the goats.
