Using Melia azedarach Linn. leaves in Co goat diet in Cat hai island district, Haiphong city

Abstract

A study was carried out at households of Cat Hai island, Hai Phong city from 2011 to 2012 to determine the effect of a supplement of Melia azedarach Linn. leaves to the growth of Co goats. 16 Co goats (6 months of age, equal sexes) were used in 4 treatments with 4 replications per treatment. Experimental diets were different ratios of M.azedarach leaves (MA25: 50% Pluchea indica - 25% Sweet Jumbo - 25% leaves of M. azedarach; MA50: 25%-25%-50%; MA70a: 30%-0%-70%; MA70b: 0%-30%-70%). The  average daily weight gains were 39.4; 42.2; 39.7 and 39.2 g/head/day. Therefore, Melia azedarach Linn. leaves are not poisonous to goats and be used at high levels in Co goat diets.
