Using of water fleas (Moina sp.) biomass and aquatic plant (Jussiaea repens l.) to treat waste-water from tra catfish (Pangasianodon hypophthalmus) ponds

 Abstract

There are high organic matter and nutrients in wastewater of tra catfish ponds caused to the risk of pollutants being discharged into the environment without treatment. The study of "Using of water fleas (Moina sp.) biomass and plant aquatic (Jussiaea repens L.) to treat wastewater from tra catfish (Pangasianodon hypophthalmus) ponds” aims to find effective solutions to biological wastewater treatment and bring economic benefits to farmers. The experiment was completely randomized design; include seven treatments with three replications. There were 3 Moina stocking densities of 10, 20, 30 individual/L respectively and different aquatic plant densities of 100, 200, 300g/10L respectively. The results showed the both of Moina and aquatic plant can grow in wastewater. After treated 12 days, the BOD, COD, total phosphorus (TP), total nitrogen (TN) and total suspended solid (TSS) decreased (BOD <20mg/L, COD <50mg/L, total phosphorus <4 mg/L, total N <30mg/L and TSS < 50mg/L), according to TCVN 5945:1995. In this study, aquatic plant is more effective in the wastewater treatment than Moina.
