Abstract

Twelve sows (6 Mong Cai sows and 6 Moo Laat sows), Mong cai sows with an initial weights ranging from 69 – 71 kg and Six Moo Laat sows with initial weights ranging from 70 - 73 kg at service were used in a Complete Block Design (CBD), with three replications of four treatments: MCMC: Mong Cai boar mat with Mong Cai sows, MCML: Mong Cai boar mat with Moo Laat sows, MLMC: Moo Laat boar mat with Mong Cai sows and MLML: Moo Laat boar mat with Moo Laat sows. In the pregnancy period the feed was restricted to 1.5% of live weight. In the lactation period the gilts were fed increasing amounts of the same diet up to five days after farrowing, and from then onwards feeds were offered ad libitum.
