The information presented in this thesis was collected in 5
villages in the Xaythanee District and in the Faculty of
Agriculture, National University of Laos, Vientiane City, Lao PDR,
with financial support from the Swedish International Development
Agency/ Department for Research Cooperation with Developing
Countries (Sida/SAREC). I am gratefully acknowledging the support
