Objectives

After completing the course the student should be able to:

describe the major systems of aquaculture
understand the digestive physiology and metabolism of aquatic species
describe the feeding and management systems employed for different classes of aquatic species
understand the role of aquaculture in integrated farming systems, especially in the recycling of live stock wastes
describe ways to measure water “quality” in aquaculture systems
describe the factors that contribute to successful aquaculture practices

Major aquatic species used for food production. Digestive physiology and metabolism of aquatic species. Feeding and management systems in aquaculture. Diseases of aquatic species. Water quality and its measurement
